PE Dental Training Centre

Our clinic also operates the Princess Elizabeth Dental Training Centre.  We are an Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) PACE Certified continuing education provider.  We operate numerous training courses throughout the year, including the Implant Mentor Program, which is the introductory implant program here in the Edmonton area.

We also host the Edmonton Kois Restorative Study Club.

And yes, after years of requests, we will begin hosting a regular implant study club in fall 2017!

Implant Mentor Program

We have been running the introductory implant training course here in the city since 2004.  The program typically runs January to March each year.  The Implant Mentor Course brochure for 2017 can be found here:  ped-implant-mentor-program-brochure-2017  .

The course fills quickly each year, and your spot is not confirmed until we receive your payment.  We usually release the exact dates around the first week of September for the following Jan-Feb Mar.     Feel free to call for more information, or to get on the waiting list for 2018.

Mentor Update

Previous mentor graduates are invited to our update, which reviews changes to current dental implants protocols based on current research.  We have decided to go to once every two years, and the next update is in Spring 2018.

Implant Restorative Courses

We run one-evening introductory courses on taking implant level impressions.  Courses are usually brand specific for simplicity, but the information applies to any mainstream root-form system.  A course brochure can be found at  ped-simpleimplantrestoration-brochure .  Again, feel free to call for more info or to get on the mailing list for future course dates.

Integrative Oral Medicine Course

The Kois Study Club is bringing in Dr. Douglas Thompson to present this acclaimed 2-day course on March 24th and 25th, 2017.  More information on his program is here: 2016-11 Dentistry for Total Body Wellness Course Description .

Ridge Preservation (“Socket Grafting”) Course

We have had a number of requests to put together a simple ridge preservation grafting course with a hands-on component.  Look for this course in fall of 2017.   We may wind up combining it with the new study club format into one of the their sessions.

Training for auxiliaries

Our inaugural full-day course for implant assistants was held in October.  Due to demand we expect to offer this course again sometime in 2017–if you were on the waiting list for the last course, we will call you when the next date is released.  One of the instructors is about to go on maternity leave, so dates for the next course have not been set yet.  The brochure for the last course is available at ped-dental-assistant-implant-brochure-2016  .

Considering a major implant course or continuum?

These can be a big investment of both money and time away from your practice and family, so it is important to select one that best meets your needs.  If you are looking at a specific course and have questions, feel free to give one of us a call.  We are familiar with most of the training programs out there and even guest-lecture in some of them.  There are many great programs but they all have their strengths and weaknesses, so the best program for you may be different from someone else.  Again, we are happy to help you with selecting one that is right for you.

Open door policy

Registered dentists, denturists, technicians, assistants, and students who wish to learn more about dental implants are welcome to come in and observe treatment in our centre.  Just please call first to make sure we are around and doing something of interest that day.

Training Centre Facility

Our lecture theatre and lab/clinic are available for educational use by outside groups.  Please call us to discuss your requirements.
